According to the latest statistics from security firm Internet Security Systems, the number of websites that contain illegal and extreme content has increased nearly half compared to last year.

Of the 16 million online websites currently in existence, the number of dark and reactionary websites is 188,000 (compared with 132,000 in 2004).

At the ISS data processing center located in Kassel, Germany, a thousand computers constantly scan the Internet, checking for new websites. Every day, images, graphics, the content of the pages are analyzed and classified automatically, non-stop.

There are 60 topic categories listed, covering all the information that appears on the web, from popular web applications such as online shopping, music, sports, finance, to missing content. More transparency like weapons, spyware releases or propaganda of extreme content.

The content posted on these sites if accidentally entered into the hands of children will cause incalculable and extremely harmful consequences. For example, instructing how to create weapons and bombs, calling for download provocative images, hot video clips, devotion to Satanic demons, spreading superstition, evil arts or websites that discuss about the custom of cannibalism.

The websites and forums that encourage members to commit suicide, self-control their body, etc. are all classified as "Dark". Articles that encourage readers to conduct criminal acts such as murder, kidnapping, vandalism, etc. also increase rapidly.

The advice given by ISS is that households and businesses need to install powerful content filtering programs to block access to malicious sites.
