Why is myocardium the strongest muscle in the body?

In the human body, the muscles of the organs are divided into three types: skeletal muscle, smooth muscle and heart muscle , in which:

- The skeletal muscle is also called skeletal muscle . As its name suggests, these are muscles that are attached to bone structure, and when the body moves under controlled or unconditional reflexes, the striated muscle is the main type of muscle.

- Smooth muscle is the muscle that surrounds organs such as the stomach, intestines, as well as blood vessels and airways in the lungs. Finally, the heart muscle is the heart muscle, and when it contracts, it pushes blood through the circulatory system.

- The heart muscle also has veins, but unlike the striated muscle, cardiac muscle cells have a bridge, joined together into a solid mass. Thus, the heart muscle has a self-shrinking property : when the heart muscle is already active, it shrinks, pushing blood throughout the body without being affected by the brain.

This means, the human brain cannot stop the heart from beating. Even when there are no signals from the nervous system, the heart is still beating (this can be seen in heart transplants). However, the nervous system of plants can still affect, changing the rate of contraction of the heart.

Besides the different structure, heart muscle is actually provided more energy than other muscle types . All cells in the body, including muscle cells, take energy from the mitochondria, the organelles convert organic matter into energy that the cell can use (ATP).

While mitochondria in the striated muscles account for only 1-2% of the rate, the amount of mitochondria in the myocardium accounts for 30-35% . That means the heart, if it is in a normal state, never has to rest, because there is always an energy supply for the heart muscle.

It can be seen that the heart is a special organ in the body. It is the body with the most "muscular" muscles that can last a lifetime without ever "getting tired" . Of course, like every other agency, it is not an eternal motive. You should exercise regularly to improve your body's health, but you shouldn't exercise too much, making your heart work too much for a long time, as this may lead to long-term effects on your heart.
