Like Microsoft and others, Yahoo is allied with SanDisk to fight Apple with a new MP3 player capable of connecting to Wi-Fi to compete with the iPod.

That's the new Sansa music player, featuring a 2.2-inch LCD color screen, 4GB hard drive capacity and selling for $ 250. Although not the first music player to integrate Wi-Fi, Yahoo and SanDisk are preeminent of Sansa by integrating them with more useful features.

For example, Sansa Connect service allows users to download songs directly from the Internet and online radio. The connection software for this service was created by Zing, a Mountain View technology firm whose former CEO of Apple was involved in the iPod development process.

In addition to the ability to download songs from Internet, Sansa Connect also offers online viewing of photos from the Flickr website, and sharing music with Yahoo! Messenger even if these people don't have music players.

Yahoo will provide subscription services for Sansa Connect for $ 11.99 a month, allowing users to download unlimited music from Yahoo! Music Unlimited.

Currently, Apple is leading the digital music market with 73.7% market share; SanDisk ranked second with 9% market share.
