The Institute of Geophysics (Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology) said that a 3.5-magnitude earthquake occurred in Luc Yen district (Yen Bai) at 3:09 p.m. on May 29 , with a depth of focus. about 10 km.

The earthquake's epicenter was in Muong Lai commune (Luc Yen district), bordering Bac Quang district (Ha Giang) and far from the epicenter of the earthquake that occurred more than 1 month ago (magnitude 4, in Yen Lam commune, Ham district). Yen, Tuyen Quang) about 30km as the crow flies.

Many people in Yen Bai, Tuyen Quang, and Ha Giang felt shaking from the earthquake.

"I was at home when I heard an explosion, the house and objects shook for about 2-3 seconds. This felt different from the earthquake a month ago ," Ms. Vy (in Luc Yen district) shared. .

"At the time of the earthquake, I was sitting on the 5th floor so I felt the shaking quite clearly. Objects, tables and chairs shook slightly for about 3 seconds ," Mr. Hung (in Luc Yen district) added.

The Institute of Geophysics assessed this earthquake as having a natural disaster risk level of level 0 . Currently, the Earthquake Information and Tsunami Warning Center - Institute of Geophysics is continuing to monitor this earthquake.

Previously, at 4:13 p.m. on April 27, an earthquake with a magnitude of 4 occurred in Ham Yen district, Tuyen Quang, with a depth of about 10km.

The earthquake's epicenter was in Yen Lam commune (Ham Yen district, Tuyen Quang), bordering Luc Yen district (Yen Bai) and Bac Quang (Ha Giang).

According to Vietnam's earthquake zoning map, the earthquake area is located between the Lo River fault and the Chay River fault.

In Vietnam, earthquakes of magnitude 3 - 3.9 are considered weak earthquakes , some people feel, but rarely cause damage. Objects in the house can be noticed vibrating.
