Adobe launches Apollo application

On March 19, Adobe Systems will announce the first version of Apollo software, allowing users to run online and non-linear web applications.

This is the first "early version" (alpha) of Apollo, and other versions are expected to be released in the near future, specifically the beta (beta) will be available next summer and version 1.0 will was released in the second half of this year.

Apollo's "early version" is primarily for web designers and programmers. The free download also includes software development tools and "runtime" ( * ) for running Apollo applications.

Apollo is designed to create a bridge between web-based applications and computer-based applications. Applications written for Apollo will have the functionality of a normal web application, but still act as a software installed locally on the computer. For example, Apollo applications will have an icon on the desktop and will automatically reconnect when users enter the network.

The alpha version of Apollo is based on Windows and Macintosh, allowing users to use HTML, JavaScript and Flash to program and display Adobe PDF format. Apollo's Linux version is expected to be released after Windows and Mac.
