Amazed with the blood group is likened to 'pure gold', and only 43 people in the world have it
What do you think is the rarest blood group in the world? Hint: The answer is not Rh-.
What do you think is the rarest blood group in the world? Hint: The answer is not Rh-.
How many blood groups do you think in the world? 4 or 8? In fact, both are correct, and they are also inaccurate. Because in fact, there are millions of variations of blood groups in the world. In it, there is a group that is considered the rarest, most valuable one, and only a total of 43 owners are known to date.
But before you care what kind of blood group it is, try to learn a little about the blood groups.
The idea is that there are 8 groups, but why are there a million blood groups?
Blood type is the concept given to the story of blood transfusion in medicine. The reason is because blood cells are covered by antigens, and each cell type has its own antigen to stimulate the production of antibodies.
Blood cells contain their own antigens.
There are two main types of antigens: A and B - the names of two blood groups. What kind of antigen you have depends on the genetic variations of your parents. Antigen A and B are dominant genes, while O (blood group without corresponding antigens) is recessive.
In another blood group system, we have the Rhesus D antigen - also known as the Rh system and are divided into Rh negative and positive. In particular, Rh positive is a group with antigen D, while Rh negative is a group without D antigen.
In fact, we have up to 35 other blood group systems recognized by the International Blood Transfusion Association. But basically, each person who only needs to know the two most important systems, ABO and Rh, is enough.
And the appearance of extremely rare blood types
There are hundreds of different types of antigens, and they are classified into the remaining 33 groups. The reason they are not important is because these antigens are so common. For example, Vel antigens - they are in the blood of 99.9% of the population, getting into it to identify blood groups (like ABVel +) will become confusing and not really necessary.
But this is when the story becomes quite troublesome. As stated, antigens in the remaining 33 groups are very common, in the blood of almost everyone in the world. This also means that if your blood lacks an antigen that 99% of others have, you will become rare, if not rare.
Among these, the rarest is the blood group called Rhnull - or Rh worthless. This is an absolute blood group that does not have any Rh antigens. It includes antigen D and about 50 other antigens.
Rhnull is so rare in the world that there are currently only 43 users in it, and only 9 agree to donate. Even before 1961, doctors still assumed that the lack of the entire Rh antigen could not get out of the uterus safely. This is, of course, a false statement, but it is enough to understand that it is so rare that doctors do not have enough samples to conclude.
A blood yellow group.
"This is a pure gold blood group ," said Dr. Thierry Peyrard, director of the Clinical and Immunological Laboratory in Paris.
People with this blood type are very special, and also very valuable. Because there are no antigens that allow them to transmit blood to all blood groups in the world, including those with extremely rare Rh- blood types. But of course, if you happen to have this blood type, it probably won't be used, except in extreme cases.
