An additional airline banned Dell / Apple laptop battery batteries

British airline Virgin Atlantic Airways has officially banned customers from using Dell and Apple laptop batteries on their flights. Previously, two other airlines had similar decisions.

Passengers with Inspirons laptops, Lattitudes, iBooks, PowerBooks, MacBooks and MacBook Pro will have to remove the batteries from the device and store them separately in the luggage bag if they want to take them on board.

Similar to Korean Air, Virgin Atlantic still allows the use of laptops on flights, provided that customers do not use batteries but use power from the socket at the seat. Of course, not every seat has a power outlet, so many people will have to temporarily leave their computers during the journey.

Virgin Atlantic also requires passengers to carry up to two batteries of luggage (and not allowed to install in computers). The airline said it would abolish the ban as soon as safety measures are implemented by Dell and Apple. Although both manufacturers promised to supply replacement batteries to customers, no one knew how long it would take to complete a recall of nearly 6 million batteries.

Both Dell and Apple had to recall flammable batteries last month. These batteries are manufactured by Sony. Sony itself must support Dell and Apple in the recall campaign, but the battery for the company's Vaio notebooks is not banned.
