Ba Ria - Vung Tau: Chicken begins to die mass!

According to the new news, up to this point in the province of Ba Ria - Vung Tau, there have been a number of breeding farms that started to have chicken deaths.

At noon on November 10, we were present in Tan Hoa commune, Tan Thanh district, noting the situation of diseases occurring in industrial chicken farms.

Chicken died mass

The ranch of Mr. Nguyen Minh Chau, Phuoc Thanh village raised 5,500 peasant breeding chickens that are 69 days old. This number of chickens should have been sold out 10 days ago, but because the market was 'frozen', traders did not buy so far they have not sold any children. Mr. Chau said, from November 8, the chickens started dying, by this morning the number of dead chickens was over 200.

Entering the entrance of his farm, he smelled a stench because the number of dead chickens that had not been buried yesterday night began to decompose. Mr. Chau said that this morning he went to the Department of Animal Health and the Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to report on the situation of sick chickens, but the officials only advised: 'People try to overcome difficulties, continue to take care of chickens and wait for the province's decision '. He did not know what to do but go to the barn to collect the dead chickens and dig a hole in his garden!

Mr. Nguyen Minh Chau: Owner of chicken farm in Phuoc Thanh village, Tan Hoa commune, Tan Thanh:

'We can't wait any longer'

Now we are very bewildered. Animal Health Agency advises farmers to keep breeding chickens and wait for the province's direction, but the pandemic is unknown when the chicken has just ended but the chickens have become oversized. Raise more money to buy bran to feed them. Now every day the chicken dies like this, we don't dare to raise anymore.

Therefore, we expect the State to have a clear direction, to allow the destruction of chickens and to support us with a part of the cost to resolve the debt. It is the best way to protect the health of our family and the community.

Nearly 1km away, Mr. Vu Quoc Hung's farm raised 17,000 chickens and there is a mass death situation. What surprised us the most was that Mr. Hung did not bury the dead chickens but gathered and cooked them for the live chickens.

Mr. Hung said: 'In doing so to help prevent chicken food (!)', He also said that the family had informed the district veterinarians and asked to destroy the chickens but they answered: 'There is no policy of The state, if the family destroys chickens, it must be responsible. ' In addition, the veterinary agency has no further recommendations for him in the current situation!

At present, in Phuoc Thanh hamlet, there are 6 large breeding farms with a total of 70,000 chickens, which are mostly over-dated, but cannot be sold. Most of the farms had a dead chicken phenomenon, which caused the farm owner to be confused.

Functional agency indifferent !?

Facing the situation of not being able to consume poultry and poultry, mass producers are falling into a situation of 'crying and laughing'. With 5,500 chickens, Mr. Chau has to spend nearly 3 million VND on food every day. If the number of chickens is destroyed, the family will lose about VND 160 million. Now it is impossible to sell chickens, but every day still have to pour money to buy food. These days, the reserve has been exhausted, he reduced the amount of food and released the chickens to let them run. Currently, Mr. Chau owes the bank 18 million dong and borrowed 35 million dong from outside.

Mr. Vu Quoc Hung's situation is even more tragic. With 17,000 chickens a day, he had to spend nearly 10 million VND on food. After 90 days of caring for chickens, I thought I could get rid of the loss of the epidemic last year, I didn't think I would become a huge debtor. These chickens have consumed nearly 700 million bran money, Mr. Hung has to 'plug' 2 red books for Uni - President Vietnam Co., Ltd and also sign books of bran dealers in the area of nearly 300 million dong.

The most worrying thing is that chicken owners and farmers still live with chickens now. Especially those who directly raise livestock, do not have any means of protection when taking care of chickens, even when collecting dead chickens. Many people also sleep with hammocks right on the chicken farm. Family members are still indifferent to enter the farm as if nothing happened. Farms are mostly located in residential areas.

Mr. Mai Xuan Phung, head of Phuoc Thanh hamlet said: ' Because of concern for the health of the farmers and the surrounding people, these days I lack what I want to shout, I can only encourage and comfort the farm owners and advise them to bury dead chickens carefully to protect their health and the community '.

This situation not only happened in Tan Hoa commune, there are now many sources saying that in Vung Tau City, there have been dead chickens on some farms. But now, local authorities still remain indifferent, have not yet tested specimens to determine the cause. And of course, there is no directive on how to deal with farms with dead chickens. Breeders are very bewildered, do not know how, sell chickens no one to buy, to raise is expensive and contains many risks to spread to people if this is bird flu.

Mr. Tran Tien Hung, Vice Chairman of People's Committee of Tan Hoa Commune, Tan Thanh District:

'Local authorities want the higher level to have solutions to handle dead chickens soon'

Tan Hoa commune currently has 9 large-scale chicken farms, up to this time there are 6 farms with un-broiler chickens, most of the farmers are farmers with difficult life. Due to the bird flu epidemic of previous years, many households owe food money to companies.

Before the current situation of chicken death, we hope that the provincial People's Committee and the Agriculture and Rural Development sector will quickly consider and have a decision soon. This is done as soon as possible to relieve concerns for the people and ensure environmental sanitation, prevent the risk of disease spread.

We also want the State to take measures to provide financial support to farmers with sick poultry.
