With the announcement of the recall of 350,000 potentially dangerous laptop batteries produced by Sony, US computer maker Gateway has become the latest victim of the "battery recovery storm."

' In some cases, battery products that are in recalls this time may become too hot and burn ,' Gateway said on its official website.

Customers who bought Gateway's laptop products will be exchanged for free. Meanwhile, Sony has offered to pay for all costs incurred during Gateway's battery recovery process.

As a result, the battery recalled the battery has spread rapidly among laptop manufacturers worldwide since last August. The first victim was Dell with more than 4 million batteries recalled. Next is Apple, IBM Lenovo, Toshiba, Fujitsu . and now Gateway.

Also today, Sony announced it would recall about 250,000 laptop batteries in the global market, adding to the 96,000 battery products recalled in Japan and China.

Sony estimates it will have to recall about 9.6 million battery products on a global scale. Estimated cost for battery recovery will be about 427 million USD.
