Central: Dengue fever continues to increase

According to Da Nang Preventive Medicine Center, only seven days from 25 to 31 October there were 235 new dengue cases, bringing the total number of dengue cases from the beginning of the year to 3,420 cases (one death ).

In particular, there were 35 dengue hot spots, especially Thanh Binh ward, the number of dengue cases continuously increased and there were 20 new cases each week. The health sector is focusing on environmental sanitation, chemical spraying, quenching at hot spots and supplying 15 more chemical injection sprayers for districts. At the same time mobilize almost all employees to participate in prevention of dengue epidemic.

The Department of Tropical Medicine (Da Nang Hospital) receives 30-35 new dengue cases every day. According to Dr. Pham Ngoc Ham - head of Tropical Medicine Department, only in October there were 599 cases of dengue fever hospitalized for treatment. The number of cases of dengue fever in the first nine months of 2010 increased by 8.1 times compared to the same period of 2009.

In this situation, Da Nang Hospital has increased the number of patient beds, serving dengue patients from 30 beds to 84 beds, however, there is still an overload situation.

Meanwhile, news from the Center for Preventive Medicine in Quang Nam province said dengue fever suddenly increased sharply in the province recently. According to the provincial Department of Health, up to now, the province has 15/18 districts, towns and cities officially suffered from dengue fever. Some localities with strong dengue fever are Hoi An City, Dien Ban, Duy Xuyen, Thang Binh, Nui Thanh and Que Son districts .

Statistics of the preventive medicine industry show that there are 2,546 patients hospitalized with dengue fever so far, a 10-fold increase compared to 2009.

In Quang Ngai province, the number of dengue patients increased four times compared to the same period last year. Mr. Ho Minh So, director of the Center for Preventive Medicine in Quang Ngai province, said that as of November 1, Quang Ngai province recorded 3,830 cases of dengue, four times more than the same period. in 2009, in which Quang Ngai City is the province with the highest rate of people suffering from dengue.

Currently, the provincial hospitals are overloaded with dengue patients, many patients have to be outside the hospital corridor.

Locality is booming with cases of dengue fever in Cho Moi district with 1,060 cases, An Phu 604, Chau Phu with nearly 500 cases . In Dong Thap, there are 3,399 cases of dengue fever, up 38% over the same period. 2009 and there are four deaths. The districts and towns with a large number of dengue cases are Chau Thanh, Cao Lanh City, Hong Ngu Town .

According to doctor Duong An Han, deputy director of Dong Thap Preventive Medicine Center, this year among the dengue cases, the rate of patients was quite high, causing difficulties and costly for treatment.
