The error has been notified by OpenStec Secunia to OpenOffice about the buffer overflow in handling WMF / EMF files. The error can be exploited by deliberately deleting the user to open a 'replicated' WMF / EMF file. When exploiting the error successfully, the attacker can take full control of the system and execute arbitrary code.

OpenOffice has also confirmed this error and recommends that users are using versions of OpenOffice.org 1.0.x, 1.1.x, 2.x as well as for all operating systems, so patch the latest security at Here or upgrade to the new version 2.1.
