Discovered a silver fish with a strange shape over 4 meters long drifting ashore in Hue
The silver fish with dark black spots on its body, red paddle-shaped fins, and a body nearly 4.5 meters long drifted ashore on the city's shore. Hue, then buried by local fishermen, with the belief that seeing fish is a sign of good luck.
On May 17, fishermen in Thuan An ward (Hue City) conducted a ceremony to bury a nearly 4.5 meter long sea fish that had just drifted to the shore in a dead state.
Previously, local people discovered a fish with a moderate body width but nearly 4.5 meters long, weighing dozens of kilograms, drifting to the beach area of Minh Hai residential group (Thuan An ward, city. Hue).
With its shape, color, length, and external fin style, local fishermen recognized this as a species of oarfish living in the marine environment.

Immediately after the discovery, local people performed a fish burial ceremony according to the customs of fishermen in TT-Hue waters.
According to Mr. Nguyen Duy Cuong - Head of Minh Hai Residential Group, oar fish is also known as dragon ho fish or giant fish . When fishermen go out to sea, encountering this fish is a sign of good luck. According to the customs of marine workers, when a dead oarfish is discovered drifting ashore, local people carefully bury it.
Mr. Cuong added that in the past 10 years, an oarfish has appeared drifting on Thuan An beach.
