For the first time, the North American dinosaur mark was discovered

Canadian scientists have just found the first fossil samples of a feathered dinosaur in North America.

Canadian scientists have just found the first fossil samples of a feathered dinosaur in North America. This is considered a rare discovery because the traces of this species have only been found in China and Germany.

This finding has just been published in Science magazine on October 25. Accordingly, fossils dating to about 75 million years have been discovered in the barren land of Alberta, Canada.

A skeleton of dinosaur ornithomimid

These fossil specimens were identified by a baby dinosaur and two adults. This species has an ostrich-like shape and is commonly known as ornithomimid. This is a surprising finding because ever since the dinosaurs' traces are mostly found only in China and Germany.

'This is a really interesting discovery because it is the first specimens of feather dinosaurs found in the western hemisphere' , Darla Zelenitsky, associate professor at Calgary University and research leader. affirmed.

'These specimens also showed for the first time that ornithomimid carried feathers, just like some groups in theropod dinosaurs' . She added that this finding 'shows that all ornithomimid dinosaurs had feathers before'.

Previously, this dinosaur once became famous in the Jurassic Park movie, in which ornithomimid dinosaurs were often chased by a Tyrannosaurus Rex. But in the film on this species is only thought to have scales, not feathers. And this, according to scientists, is no longer accurate.
