Good news in early Spring: Vietnam has nearly 30 million telephone subscribers

According to the Ministry of Posts and Telematics (MPT), by the end of 2006, the country had nearly 19,000 post and telecommunication service points (the service radius was 2.37 km), of which 7,888 commune Cultural Post points, 91 , 4% of communes have newspapers in the day, new development is more than 11.68 million telephone subscribers, bringing the total number of telephones in Vietnam to about 27.46 million, the density reaches 32.57 machines / 100 People, of which 68.8% are mobile phones. The total number of internet subscribers is 4.06 million with an average usage density of 17.67%.

Total revenue of post and telecommunication in the whole industry in 2006 reached VND 49,000 billion (VNPT alone reached VND 38,329 billion), an increase of 13% compared to 2005; paying over VND 7,460 billion to the state budget (VNPT - the main unit paid VND 6,390 billion). The hardware industry grew 25% per year, the software industry achieved a turnover of about 250 million USD with the participation of more than 720 enterprises.

According to the plan issued by the Ministry of Post and Telematics, in 2007, it will continue to be a strong development year of the Posts and Telecommunications industry, Vietnam's IT with the number of telephone subscribers will reach 38 million, an increase of 11 million compared to 2006, reaching density of 40 machines / 100 people. Post and telecommunication revenue will reach VND 60,000 billion. There are 5.8 to 6 million internet subscribers converted, the usage density reaches 21-22 people / 100 people.
