Starting from 20h30, simultaneously turn off lights, decorations and billboards at famous places such as Ngoc Son temple, The Huc bridge, Turtle Tower, King Ly Thai To monument, Opera House, Association Center National Conference, My Dinh Stadium, Dormitory of National Economics University, Sofitel Metropole, Hilton . Billboards, decoration at shops and offices . are also encouraged to turn off.

However, the city also noted that lights should not be turned off in hospitals, production plants, traffic lights, and street lights to ensure traffic .

Comments Vietnam is one of the countries heavily affected by climate change, Ruth Mathews, Project Director of WWF Greater Mekong - Vietnam Program, said that the 2009 campaign is an opportunity for all People around the world expressed interest in this important global issue.

WWF hopes that after Hanoi announced its participation in Earth Hour 2009, other cities in Vietnam will also strongly respond to this campaign. By February 19, more than 500 cities in 75 countries committed to turning off lights for one hour.

Before that, Earth Hour 2009 campaign in Vietnam has chosen two famous ambassadors in different fields. It is singer My Linh, who is very interested in environmental issues, and Prof. Vo Quy, founder and leader of Vietnam Center for Environmental Research and Natural Resource Management. However, WWF Vietnam is still looking for other ambassadors for this campaign.

Earth Hour 2009 will see the lights off at the most famous icons of the planet such as the Redeemer statue in Rio De Janeiro, the Table Mountain in Cape Town, the statue of the Lion Fish in Singapore, the Sydney Opera House, the CN tower. in Toronto, the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff and the world's tallest Taipei 101 building in Taiwan .
