Hitachi introduces ultra-thin DVD technology

Hitachi Maxell has created a new DVD technology just by thinning and compacting conventional DVDs.
Hitachi Maxell's new DVD is the same size and shape as a standard DVD. However, Hitachi Maxell's new DVD is just as thin as a third of a regular DVD - only about 0.092mm thick. Storage capacity still reaches 4.7GB.
But it seems that Hitachi Maxell's new technology is not useful if they are not combined into a Stacked Volumetric Optical Disc (SVOD) package with about 100 such DVDs, but thickening up to 6, 5cm.
Hitachi Maxell's new DVD disc is also a double-sided DVD with 4.7GB on each side - total face up to 9.4GB. So with 100 disks in SVOD package, the total capacity reaches 940GB.
The manufacturer claims new DVD technology can increase the total storage capacity up to 5 terabytes.
The selling price for each 100-pack Hitachi Maxell DVD package will be $ 325.
