Ho Chi Minh City uses modern technology to trace pork origin

In phase 1 of the scheme, the TE-FOOD system according to European technology will be applied. This technology is quite popular, easy to manipulate and take advantage of the available machines and infrastructure of participating subjects such as QR code reading technology, identification ring, cloud computing, electronic stamps.

The slaughter pig will be wearing an identification ring engraved with a QR code with information on livestock farms, and information at the next stages (to slaughter, wholesale markets, markets, supermarkets). retail). Through each stage, information about pork products will be stored on TE-FOOD management system.

Consumers can access information about meat pieces such as farms, locations, slaughtering times, wholesale markets, stall owners, retail markets, small businesses . by using pre-loaded smartphone apps. -APP free. Or we can use a specialized testing machine at markets to look up the QR code that has been put on the meat bag by small businesses.

Management system of TE-FOOD can store all information about the origin of pork from 5-10 years. In addition, the system also provides a map of the place where pork is controlled according to the process, so that consumers can conveniently shop.

In Phase 2, the Project Management Board will incorporate RFID technology (using electronic chips) attached to the pig ear to manage information about the pig's life cycle from birth.

Only more than 2 months of preparation for the scheme, Ho Chi Minh City Department of Industry and Trade said it has received positive response from related subjects. Specifically, the project management board has received the registration of 21 livestock enterprises and establishments in Ho Chi Minh City and neighboring provinces such as Dong Nai, Binh Duong, Tay Ninh and Long An; 15 slaughter establishments, including 3 establishments in the city area; 2 wholesale markets for pork are Binh Dien and Hoc Mon; 4 retail markets are Ben Thanh, An Dong, Hoa Binh, Thai Binh and some retail supermarkets.

According to the plan, from December 10, 2016, Phase 1 of the Project will be piloted at the initial registration units, and officially deployed throughout the city from March 1, 2017. This stage includes managing the identification and traceability of pork from slaughter to slaughter, wholesale markets, markets and retail supermarkets.
