Canadian Defense Ministry spokesman Jay Paxton said police had to move special vehicles on the snow and three helicopters to the scene to carry out rescue operations.

At least 237 people were rescued, of which 66 were rescued by helicopter.

The Ontario Police Department soon issued an emergency order in Lambton County, southwest of Toronto, where hundreds of vehicles were blocked by heavy snow.

The Canadian National Weather Agency warns that major snowstorms are happening in the country, which may limit the visibility of drivers.

In many areas, snowstorms cover up to 2 meters thick and cause strong winds with temperatures down to -20 degrees Celsius. However, there is still no human damage caused by snowstorms.
