The world IT industry is excited about Intel cutting more than 10,000 employees worldwide in a massive reform campaign to break out of a very difficult period. Intel is facing the loss of the market to AMD and profits continue to decline.

Even the cuts "hurt and difficult" - Otellini, Intel's executive director, has not yet satisfied investors' expectations for strong reforms with long-term changes. and more strategic. Will there be any changes in Vietnam's IT industry, when Intel is still famous as a sole brand of the entire processor market - the most important device in computer hardware?

It seems that the global IT industry will have big changes, because for a long time, the Wintel platform (Intel processor and Microsoft Windows operating system) has been a boring standard to all. customer. AMD's success comes from its fair pricing policy and superior technology, especially the highly regarded Opteron and Athlon 64 chips. However, the root cause of the market economy always supports competition.

Picture 1 of Intel events and technology
While making every effort to eliminate the monopoly in many areas of the national economy; In the IT market alone, Vietnamese consumers and IT companies are too privileged, to the point of being able to call for the monopoly of Intel and some other manufacturers (NSX)! In Vietnam, Intel's market share is absolute, it is very difficult to buy an AMD computer, because in most quotes, advertisements, customer advice from IT companies, . Intel is synonymous with microprocessor!

Small stores are certainly not capable of breaking Intel's monopoly on the market, but even companies that are claiming to be VN computer vendors only offer Intel products. If you open the VN brand computer quotes, customers will see a list of equipment details: what type of motherboard is, who produced it; What kind of RAM, who produced it; How hard disk, DVD drive . but the central processor alone - the most important device of the machine - is always Intel! On all computers assembled in VN always have Intel's blue logo. In fact, it is impossible to distinguish whether a computer with a Vietnamese brand is different from a self-assembled machine or bought from small shops. IT people still half jokingly said that installing computers is a technology of 13 screws: 4 children with motherboards, 3 with DVD drives, 3 with hard disks, 3 with peripheral cards (if any) ! Users just need to open the component box, take a screwdriver to tighten all 13 screws to attach them to the case, plug the wires together, and that's it!

Currently, the world's computer vendors do not produce Vietnamese-style PCs. With tens of millions of units, all of their models are optimized for configuration, quality and price. Components are not market-oriented like Vietnamese computers. Take for example the motherboard: in addition to the product line made exclusively for mainframe brands, NSX motherboards will market products that follow the needs of the masses. To make it easier to sell, they must meet a variety of requirements for retail customers. And they often have to pay for a lot of features that are never used. Of course, a product assembled from many devices that are not designed synchronously will be difficult to have stable quality. This is also the reason why Vietnamese computers have never been the first choice of customers who really care about the quality of IT systems.

Many reasons for the current computer market in Vietnam still follow a giant. Only customers can change this trend, because all local computer assemblers are doing the purchase of imported equipment, not yet bringing any added value into the product. Instead of following the news of a new computer assembly brand in Vietnam, we should look at computers with processors different from Intel. The competition between many processor vendors will bring better quality and price to Vietnamese consumers!
