Intel Products Vietnam Co., Ltd. was licensed by the Ministry of Planning and Investment for the first time in February, in the form of a 100% foreign-owned investment with a total initial investment of US $ 605 million.

But recently Intel decided to increase its investment from $ 605 million to $ 1 billion, to build two manufacturing plants in the TP. HCM.

Intel Vietnam director Than Trong Phuc told the BBC there are many favorable factors that led the company to decide to increase investment.

Mr. Phuc said that Vietnam has abundant human resources, young with high education, and a love for information technology will help become a good staff for Intel.

The government also pledged to support this project, such as tax incentives and help Intel train its employees.

Mr. Phuc said Intel's policy is to develop the level of information technology in general for any community that Intel has invested.

It is known that the foreign partner participating in the project is Intel Asia Holding Limited, Hongkong, and contributed USD 106 million.

Job

The first phase of the Intel plant is expected to employ 1,200 people, but the expanded location will create 4,000 jobs.

Mr. Phuc said 2,500 people with high school diploma or five colleges will work in production lines with high automation.

Besides, Intel needs 1,500 engineers and administrative staff ready for the new factory to come into operation in 2009.

Phuc said Intel will include additional training in universities and hopes to recruit 70% of new graduates.

According to William Chin, Intel Vietnam recruitment manager, Intel is expected to start recruiting people for the factory in Vietnam later this year.
