LAN network set a record of 107Gbps
On December 20, Siemens announced that it had set a new record in network speed with data transfer rates of up to 107Gbps, twice as much as the previous record set.
On December 20, Siemens announced that it had set a new record in network speed with data transfer rates of up to 107Gbps, twice as much as the previous record set.
The aforementioned speed is noted in the latest Siemens test conducted in the United States. In which data is transmitted in optical fiber backbone with the length up to about 160km. This is also the first time Siemens has conducted testing new network technology outside the laboratory.
Siemens affirmed with the development speed of multimedia applications today, the demand for high-speed network systems is also increasing.
The core of Siemens' new network is a completely new data transmission and reception system. This advance in technology allows the network system to process data without breaking it into independent data packets that follow different channels to avoid bottlenecks.
Siemens' new network technology is expected to help "boost" current 10Gbps network systems to 100Gbps. "Ethernet network technology has long been a standard for data communication in enterprise and home network systems."
Siemens emphasized the advantages of new network technology that data will no longer need to be transmitted through connections to end users. Data packets will now be directed to alternate lines to avoid overload when the network operates at the highest capacity.
It is expected that the first products of Siemens' new network technology applications will start appearing in the market next year.
