'Love hormone' is a common name for the Oxytocin hormone . It is known as a sexual stimulant, both in men and women, increasing pleasure, as well as the bonding of couples. This hormone is also available when mothers give birth. Conducting interviews and blood tests for 60 young couples in their 20s who have been married for 3 months, researchers at Bar-Ilan University in Israel measured the average level of Oxytocin twice as high as couples have longer relationships. This level will remain stable in couples for 6 months.

Oxytocin index analysis in each pair indicates that couples with this index are more likely to have more intimate emotional expressions. These findings suggest that Oxytocin in the first months of romantic love can be a strength indicator for relationships. According to the study, six months after the test, couples with higher levels of oxytocin were still together, while other couples broke up.

A previous study found that oxytocin nasal spray can improve relationships between couples. Thus oxytocin may be a therapy that helps heal the relationships of the fractured couples.
