The lemur, the scientific name Microcebus gerpi ( Gerp mouse lemur ), has relatively small ears, a slightly long tail, weighs only 2-2.5 ounces (about 60 or 70 grams), dark hair color. , omnivorous and climbing on tree branches in the lowlands of the rainforest.

At first, did the team see this rat lemur in the new lemur species found in Sahafina forest in eastern Madagascar during the 2008 and 2009 surveys?

However, through genetic analysis, it is a completely new species of lemur. According to the researchers, the ancient relatives of this mouse lemur family grew to the plains, eventually divided into many species, including M. Gerpi and Jolly.

Currently, M.gerpi is in danger of being threatened by wildlife hunting, logging and habitat reduction.
