A new technique in orthodontics has been transferred by US doctors to Vietnamese doctors. This new technique will help correct teeth for those with deflated teeth (cheek, nose .). The advantage of this new technique is to reduce treatment costs and time by 30% compared to the old methods.
On September 14, about 100 dentists in Ho Chi Minh City and surrounding areas participated in a training course on new techniques in orthodontics. This training course lasts 3 days from September 14-16, by GS. Nelson Oppermann, an American expert in orthodontic field chaired.
Orthodontics (also called braces) is a technique that dentists often use. Doctors will put braces with alloy, porcelain, stainless steel, or composite . on the teeth and use an elastic string to tie the braces together.

During the installation of braces on the teeth, the patient can still chew, swallow normally and after a while, the deflected teeth will be adjusted normally.
The new technique is to use a low-friction brace combined with a super-elastic wire for each stage of treatment, calling it "Low-friction force" (Straigt Wire Low Friction - SWLF) .
Thanks to the thermoplastic super-elastic wire, when the patient moves to chew, swallow . the cord can still produce light, continuous force for longer periods. Therefore, it will reduce the time to correct the deflected teeth.
The time and cost of braces depends on the condition of each patient's teeth. However, according to the survey, SWLF helps patients to reduce treatment costs and time by 30%.
Experts in the dental field also said that orthodontic correction can be done at any age. But the best time to treat facial orthodontics is when the permanent teeth have grown (10-12 years old). At this age, jaw bone is developing, very beneficial for expanding and rearranging teeth.
Recent studies have shown that the percentage of deviated teeth (coronary, pinus .) that experts call 'false joints' in Vietnam is up to 80%.
The orthodontic jaw can help the jaw bone develop in harmony with the face, harmonize the bite between the two jaw bones, help the teeth grow in position, limit injury due to the protruding teeth, arrange Correct the teeth without pulling.
