Yesterday (October 18), Oracle issued a serious bug fix update to fix 23 serious security bugs in database applications (server databases), server software and businesses. This is a bug fix issued by the Oracle's quarterly cycle.

Oracle considers this bug fix update to be a ' patch collection ' for many different security holes. It also includes updates to software bugs that are not security bugs.

Up to 7 of the total of 23 patches are reserved for Oracle's famous database applications - Oracle 10g, including patches to fix the main server, Grid Control, Application Server, Collaboration Suite and Database Control . Besides fixing Oracle 10g errors, the company also blocked vulnerabilities in Oracle 9i and Oracle 8i server database applications.

The remaining patches are for PeopleSoft Enterprise Tools, PeopleSoft CRM, JD Edwards EnterpriseOne / OneWorld XE applications, Oracle Database Server, Enterprise Manager, Oracle Application Server and Oracle Collaboration Suite.

However, Oracle did not disclose any specific details about the vulnerabilities patched this time. This is a manufacturer's policy issue.

Oracle's security fix updates are usually released on a quarterly basis - in January, April, July and October, and usually fall on the Tuesday of the week closest to the 15th of every month.
