A French investor has decided to choose the design project of an American architect to build a very impressive skyscraper in Paris that challenges the Eiffel Tower. A special feature is that part of the energy for this building will be generated from the wind.
The building, dubbed Phare (Lighthouse), will grow in La Defense, a complex of buildings west of Paris where many large corporations are based. This building was built by American architect Thom Mayne, who won the Pritzker award, and has a construction cost of about $ 1 billion.

Unibail investor announced, Thom Mayne has surpassed 9 other architects in the competition to select designs for the building. His work is a work with a sexy curve and gradually grows up asymmetrically. Its crest is a cluster of sharp antennae that looks as far away as a giant crown.
This is considered a "green building" because the wind turbines powered by the top will provide energy for the building's air conditioning system for many times of the year. The exterior of the building is specially designed to reduce the heat from the penetrating sunlight of the windows in the summer.

Phare is expected to be inaugurated in 2012 and has a height of about 300 meters, a little lower than the Eiffel Tower (height 323 meters). But it is still significantly higher than today's tallest office building in Paris, Montparnasse Tower (209 meters high).
