Phone makes people more distant?

Two recent studies have shown that if a phone is present in a conversation, it will make us feel less active when talking.

Research indicates that the phone or simply leaving the phone in view at a romantic dinner or when meeting with friends, can be a mistake.

Psychologists from Essex University, who performed this experiment, said that mobile phones make people think of wider social relationships, the interests and interests of many others and that it makes reduce the level of interest and sympathy in conversations.

The first study had 37 couples you never knew who knew each other. They were asked to spend 10 minutes talking to each other about interesting events that took place in their lives over the past month.

Phone can distract you when talking.

Participants sit in separate compartments. Half of those couples are allowed to leave their cell phones on the table. The other half left a notebook beside it, instead of the phone.

After the conversation is over, attendees will have to answer questions that are relevant to the person who just talked. The results show that those who talk with the presence of mobile phones are often less active with the interlocutor.

The second study had 34 couples who were completely foreign to each other. Some couples are asked to talk about everyday topics, others talk about the most significant events of the past year. Similar to experiment 1, half of them talked with the presence of a cell phone next door, another half was a notebook. Often a meaningful conversation would make people feel close and trust in the dialogue.

And the result this time is similar to last time. Couples with notebooks on the table feel more intimate and trust than those who see cell phones on the table. Scientists have drawn a conclusion that mobile phones can affect the relationship between people, in a bad way.
