Xuan Son National Park in Thanh Son district (Phu Tho) has discovered the first individuals of the precious fish species in the downstream of the Kom waterfall area in Coc hamlet, Xuan Son commune. This species has only lived in the confluence of Bach Hac river, Viet Tri city.

This species of Dao people called Black Bettas, Muong people called Cat Goose (because of their small, small intestines and meaty fish), and the fishermen called the Cat Eye or Thousand Eyes. They often feed on the bottom of the stream, eat moss, and the ethnic people often catch it at the end of the autumn when there are turbid water streams.

Fish have jade green eyes, mouths below flared, skin like carp skin, slightly green on the back, small yellow belly and seasonal belly discoloration. The first individual was discovered in the Kom waterfall area weighing about 1 kg and was the female. According to ethnic people in this area, adult fish weighs up to 3 kg.

It is known that the current fish breeds on the market are worth about 500,000 to 700,000 VND / 1 kg, depending on the weight.

Thus, with the discovery of mint bananas , lumpy toad fish and recently pompano, Xuan Son national forest has 3 more endemic species of plants and animals that need to be studied and preserved.
