Probably, many of us have heard or known the classic experiments involving Coke and Mentos (a type of mint) candy. And if you don't already know, here's what happens if these two things come into contact with each other.

To put it simply, the potassium benzoate, sugar and CO2 in Coke will combine with the gelatin and gum arabic (thickening additive) in the candy, creating an explosive and bubbling reaction.

But actually, the story above happens when you put Mentos in any carbonated soft drink on the market, not anything Coke. However, have you ever wondered, what would happen if we put Mentos in a giant giant freshwater tank?

Sharing the same curiosity, Mimax - whose real name is Maxim Monakhov, a quite famous Russian YouTuber, decided to play big once, with the same experiment but equal to. 10,000 liters of soft drink Coke (Coca Cola). ). This experiment cost Mimax about 9000 USD (equivalent to more than 200 million Vietnamese Dong). But in return, he has a video that has collected more than 7 million views so far.

It is known that Mimax has been planning this phase of experiment for many years. According to the caption under the video, this plan has been cherished by Mimax since 2016 - that is, 4 years ago.

"Yes, it looks very extravagant and meaningless, but to me it means a lot," - Mimax shared. "My whole career is for this moment."

And this is what happened!

The video shows a lot of people preparing a huge water tank, with thousands of Coke bottles being poured inside. However, unlike previous experiments, Mimax did not use Mentos but used baking soda. So, the chemical reaction that occurs is a little different, but the result is still satisfactory.

The reason why Mimax changed the ingredients is because. saving, because baking soda is cheaper. This is a wise move, especially after you have spent thousands of dollars to buy enough Coke and tanks.

CO 2 generated would form tremendous pressure, creating an eruption.

Explain further about this experiment: when baking soda is poured into fresh water, the reaction occurs will push an amount of CO 2 giant out, forming a large foam column shoot for the sky. This is the result when an acid-based substance comes in contact with an alkaline substance.

The hydrogen from the acid will react with the carbonate, forming the compound hydrogen carbonate which quickly breaks down into CO 2 and water. This process happens very quickly, CO 2 generated would form tremendous pressure, creating an eruption.
