Release malicious code by ... forgetting USB
Forget USB memory sticks that intentionally contain Trojans in public places
Neglecting USB memory sticks that intentionally contain Trojans in public places is the hackers' latest "invention" in spreading malicious code.
If someone accidentally picked up and used that USB memory stick, their PC would be infected with an extremely dangerous Trojan. Trojan is designed to automatically activate when USB memory card is connected to the PC.
The primary goal of these attacks is to distribute Trojans that can steal users' online bank account login information.
USB memory sticks accidentally become hackers' tools
The new method of distributing this new Trojan has been presented by Nick Lowe - Director of Check Point branch in the UK - at the Infosec Trade Fair on March 24th.
Lowe declined to disclose more information about this type of attack on the grounds that the information needs to be kept secret because the investigation process is still ongoing.
Mikko Hypponen - research director of security firm F-Secure - said the Trojan has become a more popular user account hijacking tool today than phishing emails.
Trojans that steal users' bank accounts are a "commercial product" in hackers. The price of each Trojan like this usually ranges from $ 2,000 to $ 5,000.
