The construction of the park will begin next year and is expected to be completed in 2016 - 2017. Iberdrola Group also plans to build 80 MW of wind power for agricultural production in Romania.

In an earlier development, April 19, 2010, the Romanian Government agreed to build the largest wind energy project on the mainland. And the Iberdrola Group has been selected by the Government to be a ' gold sender ' for this world-class project.

According to statistics, the average cost to buy and install wind turbines is currently about 1,700,000 euros (2,300,000 USD) for a MW of electricity. That is why Iberdrola established a special trading company to sell the energy produced from ' wind farms ' in the future.

Iberdrola Group representative said: ' We are analyzing all the opportunities from the domestic market, export and bilateral agreements so that the project can be put into operation most effectively. '

The Romanian government hopes that after many years, green energy will account for 25% of total electricity production.

If this project goes into operation, it will be a serious counterweight to the wind farm just opened in the UK.

The Thanet wind farm, with 100 giant turbines off the North Sea, will supply electricity to more than 200,000 households.

This farm has a capacity of 300 MW (only half of the capacity compared to the farm expected to be built in Romania).
