Snacks can be as addictive as drugs
A study conducted by US scientists, recently published in the medical journal "Nature Neuoscience - Natural Neurology", says junk foods can also cause obesity or addiction like cocaine addiction or heroin.
Scientists at the Scripps Research Institute in Florida conducted a three-year study on mice. The results show that eating high-fat foods can create excessive eating habits and thereby lead to obesity.
In their experiments, the scientists divided the mice into three groups and fed them with human foods. The first group is fed with healthy foods with balanced nutrients. The second group was fed limited snacks. The third group is fed unhealthy foods in an unlimited amount, such as cakes with cheese, bacon, and sausages.
The results showed that the mice of the third group quickly became obese and the active ingredients in their brains also changed.
When electric researchers stimulate the part of the brain that controls their excitement, they realize that mice fed with an unlimited amount of snacks need more stimulation to reach. the level of excitement, compared to the mice eating healthy food.
Scientist Paul Kenny said: "What we see in animals is like those in people who can't control their daily living habits. If people keep repeating their eating habits again and again moderation will definitely have health problems. "
In the US, in 2008 there were six states with obesity rates above 30% of the total population.
