It is thought that soy, a vegetable protein, may interfere with the process of treating excess sugar into fat. Previous research also showed that soybeans and tofu reduce the risk of ovarian cancer and heart disease.

In the latest study, the team investigated the effect of soy on the health of 15 menopausal women. Nine people received a 120-calorie soy-bean smoothie daily, while another six received a cup of placebo juice.

After 3 months, there is little difference between the weight of the 2 groups. But the shooting showed the difference in the amount of fat in your waist. While women who drink soybeans lose belly fat, other women increase.

The team found that the results could improve health for older women who often gain weight after menopause.
