American company Zomes introduced a model of a convex polyhedron called Zome that can withstand harsh natural conditions and stand up to 500 years, New Atlas reported on November 3. Brothers Shereef and Karim Bishay, the heads of Zomes, were inspired to build the house as California wildfires increased.

Shereef and Karim Bishay wanted the new home to be not only sustainable but also environmentally friendly. As a result, Zome's multi-panel protective shell is composed of bioceramic cement, which is said to be carbon neutral (zero net carbon release to the atmosphere). Meanwhile, the production of Portland cement, the most commonly used cement in the world, is one of the main sources of greenhouse gases.

Spacious house 24,6m 2 , inside use bamboo sheets and adhesive does not contain formaldehyde. Rubber gaskets around doors, windows and other openings keep the house airtight. The fleece insulation in the walls helps to regulate the indoor temperature.

The use of concrete and other elements helps Zome's outer walls resist water, moss, pests and prevent rotting. The house will not collapse under the weight of accumulated snow and is also fireproof with a heat resistance of up to 1,200 degrees Celsius . However, this does not mean that people living inside are not affected by such high temperatures.

Zome is factory assembled to the specifications requested by the buyer within two days. The staff will then transport the house to the installation site. The house is ready to use within a week. If the buyer wants to relocate, the buyer can dismantle it and move it to another location.

Zome costs about $75,000 , including shipping and installation costs. Currently Zomes only accepts orders from residents in the state of California but may expand in the future.
