Beer has long been shown to be beneficial for health if consumed in moderation. Today, scientists from Idaho University (USA) claim beer or hops have the ability to fight cancer by containing two humulones and lupulones that prevent the growth of bacteria and pathogens.
According to Medical Daily, hops, also called hublong, make a bitter taste characteristic of beer. Hops are considered as folk remedies for sleep disorders, hair loss, anxiety and inflammation. Recently, some studies show hops prevent dementia due to many antioxidants and cognitive decline. The 2014 study suggested that flovonoid in hops will enhance the body's kidney function. Women who drink beer also have less heart attacks and reduce the risk of kidney stones.
Scientists from the University of Idaho hope to make humulones and lupulones into drugs. Speaking at a meeting of the American Chemical Society, research leader Kristopher Waynant said they were "very close" after a series of "trial and error" efforts .
Waynant intends to work with biologists and medical research to develop the active ingredients for cancer treatment and inflammation, inspired by beer.
