According to the researchers, these foods belong to a low glycemic index (GI). The GI indicates the time when a person's blood sugar is fast or slow.

For example, high GI foods like croissants, white bread or corn tortillas will dissolve blood sugar, making the body absorb more quickly.

Conversely, low GI foods will get into the body longer, which will make children longer hungry and less likely to eat snacks.

Janet M. Warren, a member of the research team, said: 'It is not possible to confirm high GI foods from the breakfast menu for children. However, the study of low GI foods has opened up the possibility of building a reasonable diet to cope with the increasing situation in children in many countries'.
