The US website is the source of archiving and spreading a huge amount of malicious code on the Internet. The trend of cybercrime today is to increase the spread of malicious code and phishing attacks.
That is the conclusion given in the 'Report of online financial fraud and identity theft' by security firm Cyveillance.
Accordingly, Internet users will face the risk of being attacked by malicious code when accessing websites originating from the United States. 63% of malicious code distributed on the Internet is sourced from these websites.
However, US websites contain only about 25% of the malicious code. Sometimes they are only used to spread malicious code stored elsewhere. Meanwhile, websites originating from China store up to 34% of malicious code.
" We think the main reason for this situation is financial motivation, " said Todd Bransford, vice president of marketing for Cyveillance. ' Cybercriminals want to reach the American people's PC to steal their financial information. That's why they often add malicious code to websites that Americans often visit . '
Often these are malicious codes that can steal personal identifiable information. 50% of these websites are stored directly on US web servers.
" The number of web attacks has doubled in the second quarter of this year, compared to the first quarter ," Bransford said. In particular, the number of phishing attacks has clearly increased by more than 20%.
