Not only are there objections to globalization and opposition to multinational corporations, not only against the World Economic Forum (WEF). The 2007 World Social Forum went even further with the decision to exclude all Microsoft products from its scope.
With more than 300 computers provided to participants in press conferences, WSF organizers have only allowed the use of open source software products for forum activities.

Delegates said this was an expression that showed a new way of encouraging the free social movement. That way is to eliminate the monopoly of a US corporation like Microsoft.
According to the members of the forum, they believe that this is a reasonable move, especially when the US, home of Microsoft, is showing signs that cause many people to think of some hegemony.
This is the sixth year that the WSF forum has been held and for the first time held in Africa.
Many members of the forum argue that the way Microsoft software dominates the market is hindering the flow of global information and should have the opposite effect, for free.
