Toshiba recovers laptop batteries

Japanese electronics maker Toshiba has announced plans to recall 340,000 laptop batteries, and part of it is made by Sony. The move follows Dell and Apple 's decision to withdraw laptop batteries last month after concerns that these batteries are in high demand.

The move follows Dell and Apple 's decision to withdraw laptop batteries last month after fears that these batteries may overheat and cause a fire.

Dell has recalled more than 4.1 million faulty batteries; while Apple recalled 1.8 million batteries across the world.

In both cases, problems with lithium-ion batteries were produced by Sony Energy Devices, a subsidiary of Sony Japan.
