This idea also attracted the American military, only that they wanted to use electromagnetic weapons not to destroy the means of aliens to detonate the mine and explosive device itself.

The Pentagon has announced the need to develop 'powerful power micromanagement grenades' (HPMs), capable of generating electrical impulses from destroying electronic devices and triggering triggers. In theory, the electric components of self-made mines and ammunition will be overloaded by the intense electromagnetic radiation emitted by grenades, triggering the ignition.

The designers will have to complete a series of complex requirements.

First of all, the electromagnetic grenades must be small: 40 mm pear-shaped grenade launchers for use with grenade launchers, anti-tank rocket launchers, or Javelin anti-tank missiles and Hydra air rockets.

According to the 2011 notes by engineer Larry Altgilbers, who runs the new electromagnetic weapon project, the electromagnetic ammunition can be based on two principles of operation:

Explosion principle - when the pulses are generated by single crystalline cesium iodide pressure bursts;

+ Non-explosive principle - thanks to traditional ' electromagnetic radiation ' sources;

With regards to the HPM grenade project, the principle of unexploded ordnance is unlikely to produce enough impulses to require heavy equipment. Even the use of superconductors does not solve the problem, as it still requires a strong source of energy, and semiconductors need to be cooled to super-cold temperatures.

Therefore, the US military will certainly receive the HPM grenade design using the principle of magnetic force extinguishing. In theory, the power of the grenade explodes near an unprotected bomb specifically to trigger an electric fuse.

The use of such ammunition would be very simple: the soldier pulls the trigger and throws the HPM grenade into the bomb shelter, for example into the door frame of a building.
