Vietnam successfully produces first batch of Sputnik V vaccine

On September 24, Vaccine and Biological Products Company No. 1 (Vabiotech) - a company under the Ministry of Health, officially announced the successful production of the first batch of Covid-19 vaccine Sputnik V (Gam-COVID-Vac) in Vietnam.

Dr. Do Tuan Dat, Chairman of Vabiotech, said that the unit is very pleased to announce the successful production of the first batch of Sputnik V vaccine in Vietnam. This batch of vaccine was sent to Russia on August 26 for analysis and assessment to meet the requirements of the standard. Sputnik V vaccine is developed based on the world's first registered adenovirus vector platform , the vaccination schedule is 2 doses, the interval between 2 doses is 3 weeks.

According to the results of clinical trials published in the journal 'The Lancet' , the Sputnik V vaccine was 91.6% effective. For volunteers over 60 years old, the rate was 91.8%. After vaccination, 98% of volunteers had antibodies against the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

In Vietnam, Sputnik V Vaccine was licensed for emergency use by the Ministry of Health on March 23, 2021.

On July 21, Vabiotech officially announced the trial production of Sputnik V vaccine in Vietnam.

Sputnik V vaccine is produced based on a vector technology platform that has been proven safe; Using two different vectors for two injections in one vaccination course, providing immunity for a longer period of time than vaccines that use the same delivery mechanism for both injections.
