Vietnamese prodigy makes laser engraving machines from scrap

Nguyen Duong Kim Hao's laser marking machine won the special prize of the "Young Creative Challenge 2014" contest, especially the completely crafted and scraped machine.

Nguyen Duong Kim Hao is a student of grade 8/8 Nguyen Gia Thieu Secondary School, Ho Chi Minh City. In the 2014 Young Creative Challenge, the 10X boy is the youngest and most outstanding member to win a special prize with a laser marking machine.

Kim Hao said, the product is completed in 6 weeks, having difficulties with many new techniques. The machine is made up of a system of Intel Galileo controlled CNC axis and laser light. To save costs, Hao seeks to buy equipment at scrap shops. The laser engraving machine has many useful uses completed with 4 million VND.

This product has 2 modes: redrawing photos from phone and drawing letters, diagrams on materials such as wood, paper, cloth .

In every occasion of traveling, playing, people can take photos with phones using the Android operating system, connected to the laser machine to have lifelike drawings on unique materials. It also helps to draw the technique correctly.

'This product is designed to be user-friendly, easy to use with amateurs. Can operate continuously for more than 24 hours and when the power is turned off, it will save the drawing position ' - Hao shares the advantages.

'Due to manual and scrap material, the machine has not achieved absolute accuracy (current error of about 0.1mm)' - the young prodigy said.

In the award ceremony of the Young Creative Challenge 2014 on January 18, Kim Hao directly used drawing machines on hard materials, making viewers curious and excited. The boy born in 2001 desires to develop many similar products, said to be rare in Vietnam.

Nguyen Duong Kim Hao has won the title of Vietnam Typical Young Face 2013, IEYI International Young Creative Director of Malaysia 2014, a certificate of merit from the Prime Minister for her creations.
