NSW National Park and Wildlife Service recently started the "Operation Rock Wallaby" program to combat the natural threat that threatens the Wallaby kangaroo population.

The agency has spent the past few weeks completing the release of food for kangaroos in the Capertree and Wolgan valleys, Yengo National Park, Kangaroo Valley and around Oxley Wild Rivers and Curracubundi National Parks.

In total, more than 2,200kg of fresh vegetables were dropped.

New South Wales Environment Minister Matt Kean said that when the animals try to escape the fire, they leave without food.

"The typical Wallaby kangaroo will survive the fire on its own, but then there will be no natural food because the fire has taken away vegetables around its habitat," he said.

Mr. Keane also said that he will continue to monitor the native species to check their progress as part of the forest fire recovery.

"When possible, we will install cameras to monitor the amount of food, the amount and the diversity of the animals there" - Mr. Keane said.

The World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) estimates that 1.25 billion animals have died directly or indirectly from bushfires across Australia.

Animals Australia, meanwhile, used the plane to transport food to provide injured and burned wildlife in Victoria.

The organization relies on donations to rent small airplanes and then pack grain bags and wood pellets to spread throughout the area through the "'Vets for Compassion" program.

A total of 3 tons of kangaroo kangaroo food was sent. In particular, 2 more aircraft were loaded and ready to leave on 13 and 14-1.
