Yahoo Group, in collaboration with security firm Symantec, announced on July 25 the Internet security package called Norton Internet Security.

This software package is designed to protect users from online threats such as viruses or spyware.

The suite includes Symantec's Norton AntiVirus products and Symantec's Norton Personal Firewall.

Yahoo users can download the trial for 30 days, and then if they want to use it, they will have to pay a fee of $ 50 to register within 12 months.

This price is described by Yahoo and Symantec as a "special preferential" price.

Yahoo will be responsible for promoting the suite on its website, search engines and other products, such as the browser toolbar.

Yahoo and Symantec have been cooperating for many years. For example, Yahoo still uses Symantec's security technology in its Yahoo Mail e-mail service. At the same time, the two companies also co-launched a browser toolbar.

With the new deal, Yahoo has a tool to compete with a similar product package that rival AOL is testing called Total Care, which uses McAfee's security technology, rival of Symantec.

The deal will also increase product releases for Symantec, just after Microsoft launched the OneCare PC security suite in June.

OneCare product suite, including computer optimization, antispyware, firewall, backup and antivirus features, costs $ 50 per year to register for use on three Windows XP-based computers.

Customers are in need and want all the support to protect themselves from more dangerous and increasingly online threats. Companies like Yahoo are well aware that providing security services and products will help them retain customers and attract new customers.

This will also convince users to spend more on online services, which is crucial for Yahoo's online advertising business.
