You: Need vitamin D supplement for mothers

All pregnant women and nursing mothers (breast milk) take vitamin D, to reduce the risk of infant death (due to infection).

Investigator Andrew Walker, North London area, England, who organized an investigation into the death of a three-month-old boy from infection wrote to the UK Health Minister calling for: "Need to raise public awareness about the harmful effects of vitamin D deficiency". All pregnant women and nursing mothers (breast milk) take vitamin D, to reduce the risk of infant death (due to infection).

In a letter to the Secretary of Health Andrew Lansley, investigator Andrew Walker presented: The baby Milind Agarwal (3 months old) was taken to the hospital in July 2011 with symptoms of being infected with a virus.

In 2009, medical experts warned of: the risk of Vitamin D deficiency during pregnancy (because pregnant mothers do not take Vitamin D supplements) can cause newborns to have rickets, and in the long run will lead to schizophrenia and type 1 diabetes in young children.

While many people can get vitamin D from the sun, people who live in temperate climates may not get enough vitamin D from the sun. However, Vitamin D is found in limited quantities in some foods such as fish oil, eggs and liver.
