Young girl with strange disease

One morning in January 2016, Abi Harmer came from Kent, he woke up with a penetrating pain and his left hand could not move. From that point on, a drop of water or a wind that touched her could cause her whole body pain.

The 22-year-old girl said sleep is one of the most affected parts. Abi often wakes up about 2 to 5 hours every night because of pain.

Abi had a magnetic resonance scan at Kent Hospital and Canterbury but found no cause.

'I often tell my friends that I feel like this area is being crushed by a bucket of ice. But instead of leaving it out, you still have to stay there, even if you can't stand it anymore. When I showered, I had to try to keep my feet and arms away from the water because it was so painful , 'Abi said.

Initially, Abi just felt like there was a stream of water flowing inside the arm.

The time of Abi was newly ill, and no doctor could diagnose her case. She was also hospitalized for 4 consecutive months of neurological treatment, but the situation only worsened and the pain eventually spread to her right leg. Since then, Abi could not only use his left hand but struggle to stand and use crutches with one right hand.

Abi fears he will not be able to continue the life of an ordinary person.

By mid-August, the young girl moved to the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery in London, England. Here, Abi is officially diagnosed with the disease by Dr Goebel, a neurologist. It is a complicated pain syndrome by region , but there is no effective treatment for this syndrome. In some patients, the pain is never improved.

'I am 20 years old and still going to school, so I am afraid that I will not be able to walk or use my left hand. I was originally left-handed, so I had to learn how to remake everything, from writing and eating to practicing brushing with my right hand. My parents, Claire and Mark, at the age of 50 still helped me to bathe because I could only use one hand , "Abi said painfully.
