The work of preventing leakage has been carried out. The above water contains 230 million becquerels (Bq) / liter of strontium and other radioactive substances.

TEPCO believes that the water has yet to flow into the sea because there is no drainage system nearby.
TEPCO said a patrol officer had discovered a leak from the tank cover at 11:25 (local time) on February 19.
The water has flowed through rain water pipes, escaping the barrier, where water is prevented to leak out when the tanks are leaking.
TEPCO suspects that the contaminated water has mistakenly leaked into the tank, because the valves that should have been closed will open so that the water in the tank is spilled out. Accordingly, one of the valves was malfunctioning, while the other two were opened.
After closing the two valves, TEPCO confirmed the leak ended at 5:40 (local time).
