A local official said rescue helicopters had to stop operating due to bad weather, although there are still thousands of people isolated in the floodwaters, causing the death toll to reach 8,000. most of them are pilgrims.

Bureau of Meteorology forecasting weather in this area will continue to have heavy rain again from June 24.

Meanwhile, Indian officials announced plans to hold a cremation ceremony for the ill victims, due to fears of an outbreak. Expected cremation ceremony will be conducted on June 24.

The rain that began on June 15 destroyed many states in northern India, in which Uttarakhand suffered the most damage. River water swept away many houses, even a village. More than 1,000 bridges and many roads have been destroyed. Many areas turn into isolated oases in floodwaters.
