Air pollution affects people's memory

Experts from Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Boston University Medical School studied 900 people over the age of 60. They found an increase in PM2.5 particle density (diameter less than 2.5 micrometers) at About 2 micrograms / m3 is related to the underlying cerebral infarction (silent stroke).

According to IB Times, the team studied the level of danger in prolonged exposure to PM 2.5 particles and used satellite images for evaluation. They found that the rate of stroke in middle age due to air pollution could be about 46% higher.

" This is worrying because we all know that silent strokes increase the risk of stroke and dementia, travel problems and depression. We plan to delve into the impact of pollution. the air lasts longer, its impact on MRI results, brain activity and other risks such as stroke and dementia , " said Professor Sudha Seshadri.

Polluted particles can come from many different sources , but mainly because fossil fuels burn from power plants, manufacturing plants, vehicles . They can penetrate deep into the lungs. and affect the respiratory tract, causing chronic bronchitis, lung cancer or cardiovascular disease .

Air pollution is a concern in many developing countries around the world, such as India and China. Construction waste, waste from vehicles or industrial activities are the causes that make the pollution situation worse. According to research by the University of Chicago, 95% of the Indian population is breathing polluted air above the safety level of the World Health Organization (WHO).
