Attackers have started shooting at Skype users with a new Trojan program, disguising the latest version of the VoIP software.

Security firm MessageLabs has detected and prevented more than 800 copies of the new MyTob Trojan variant (AKA Fanbot) that is spreading via email. The remaining nicknames and traces inside the code allow MessageLabs to come to the conclusion that their culprit is most likely a famous black hat hacker in China, not the original creator of Trojan MyTob.

Maksym Schipka, a senior antivirus expert at MessageLabs, said it was the first malware ( malware ) to directly attack Skype, which he recorded. It signals a new attack by hackers, aimed at simple, but widely used, services.

Specifically, this malware is in the attachment of phishing emails from Skype, with the ad here being the latest version (v1.4). The legal download address of this software was only released last week, so it can be said that this attack was particularly catchy at the time and psychology of users. If you accidentally open the infected file, on a computer running a Windows operating system that is vulnerable to vulnerabilities, their PC will quickly turn into a zombie and be under hacker control.

However, according to Schipka, Trojan-infected computers will not be able to connect to the IRC server, so bad guys won't be able to take advantage of this much at this time. However, the following variations are likely to overcome this drawback, and then the risk they bring is really great.
